Industrial & Institutional Services (I&IS)
I&IS customers across many diverse industries use our water treatment programs to extend the useful life of their assets, minimize downtime of their facilities, conserve water and energy and reduce their total cost of operations. Nalco is the leader of this $6.9 billion global market, with an 18 percent share.
Energy Services
Our upstream process applications improve oil and gas recovery and production, extend production equipment life and decrease operating costs. Our downstream process applications increase refinery and petrochemical plant efficiency and the useful life of customer assets while improving refined and petrochemical product quality and yields. Nalco is the leader in this $3.5 billion global market, with a 32 percent share.
Paper Services
In addition to serving the water treatment needs of the paper and pulp industry, this division is the third largest provider of paper process specialty chemicals and services. Called SMART Solutions®, the program addresses the unique needs of this industry by integrating the entire papermaking process to improve finished product performance and optimize operational efficiency. We hold the number 3 market position in this $8.2 billion global market.
Analytical, Consulting and Technical Field Services
Our business is focused on providing integrated solutions to complex issues for our customers. These solutions are often adapted on-site by our technical sales professionals. Our sales teams are supported by analytical, consulting, and technical field services.

Research and Development scientists are actively involved with customers, gaining insight, providing advice, developing new technologies and supporting new program implementation.
